My Healthy & Happy Life

I love fall in Chicago. It’s the best the Midwest has to offer. The leaves change and show all their color. And the weather is usually gorgeous. This year was especially sweet. Not only was there baseball in October, but I landed my dream job.

I’m so excited to join the Zemas Madhouse Foods team. I get to use my marketing and business talents in a place where putting family and wellness first means everything. I get to tell everyone how to treat yourself well. And for me, it’s personal.

I’m a newly single mom raising to two amazing young daughters. My mission is to guide them to be free thinking, self-sufficient and healthy individuals who are prepared to conquer the world no matter what it throws at them. One of the ways I do that is by giving them the best choices in treating their bodies well. Good for them food, lots of water, fun exercise and sleep-all encompassing healthy life-long habits.

I practice what I preach. I’m an avid marathon and distance relay runner and I live a healthy life. I personally rely on healthy, nutrient rich foods to keep me training and competing at peak performance levels year round. Although the “marathon” season is generally over by now, my eye is on the prize come January when I’ll probably be running a half marathon or two. It’s cold in Chicago. I do that by eating healthy and clean. Fueling my body for strong training. I can do this with Zemas Madhouse Foods ancient whole grain healthy baking mixes. I can even satisfy my sweet tooth that craves chocolate. And I’m always ready for that.

I’m also setting a healthy benchmark for my daughters. I’m demonstrating to them firsthand how with a little effort you can easily make yummy, nutrient powered, and healthy pancakes and waffles to start off the day just a little better. Stronger. So I can challenge myself while putting in the miles. And recover fast so I am properly prepared to face a productive day, juggling my kids, my work, and my “whatever else” gets thrown my way. And my girls learn how easy it can be to make it all possible.

Through testing out the line of Zemas ancient whole grain baking mixes, my girls and I have discovered our new favorite toppings that are healthy, nutritious and delicious all at the same time.

  1. Barefoot & Chocolate hazelnut spread
  2. Homemade apple chutney(recipe below)
  3. Homemade coconut whipped cream and sprinkles(dye-free, or course)!

Tricia’s Easy Apple Chutney

4 medium sized apples,peeled,cored and coarsely chopped (I like Pink Lady apples)

fresh lemon juice from half a lemon

¾ cup water

½-1 t. ground cinnamon


Tips:  Use your imagination!  Add spices you like such as ground nutmeg, ground ginger, allspice, etc.

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan.  Bring to a bubbling boil.  Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until it reaches the consistency you desire.  Enjoy!

Tricia Goldfarb joined the Zemas Madhouse Foods team after spending over 15 years in sales, marketing, ecommerce, and product management.  Tricia’s unique ability to create authentic relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers enables her to effectively plan strategy and execute.  Through her sales training at multiple Fortune 500 companies, Tricia is an active listener and problem solver. At Zemas, Tricia is responsible for managing both marketing projects and administrative work.

Tricia holds a BA in arts in rhetoric from the University of Illinois and currently resides in the suburbs of Chicago.  She is a mom to two amazing young daughters and is likely to be training for her next big marathon or distance relay run to raise money for Pediatric Cancer Research.
